Winter14 Miles

Last week was an educational highlight for me. I disassembled my first marine gear learning all about it along the way. This gear's identification tag was no longer on it so I had to do a fair amount of research to find disassembly instructions and part numbers for the components I needed. This week I will be reassembling the gear once parts come in. I also set up the LaConner Maritime boat show booth before the weekend arrived.

Winter14 Miles

Last week, I helped a fellow tech pull an engine out of a hole so tight we had to remove the oil fill cap to get enough clearance. The engine came out completely vertical. I have never dealt with oil shaft seal glands (propeller shaft) but last week I resealed one and was able to familierize with the ancient component.

Winter14 Miles

Last week I was put on multiple jobs including pulling engines, fabrication, and diagnosing a fuel leak. I really appreciate the support I get from my coworkers and manager along with the freedom to do jobs the way I feel fit. I learned how to disassemble OMC Bravo 2 sterndrives, reseal and reassemble. I have been learning a lot over winter break working a Maritime and look forward to the rest of this quarter!
